Hello again, everyone! Today we’re a day late because of personal scheduling conflicts. As such, I’m gonna try and make this a quality part that we can all enjoy. If you’re new here, welcome! Don’t forget to shout us out on twitter using the #CivGrandRoyale or #OneMoreTurn hashtags!

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Where the Sho don’t Shone

2: Where the Sho don’t Shone

In review of the last part, we had our first conflicts, including the Shoshone’s conflict with Texas which resulted in a great expansion of their empire. Washakie is a force to be reckoned with already, but treacherous terrain will make it hard to expand elsewhere.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Literally Huliaipole

3: Literally Huliaipole

Another winner from last episode is Makhnovia! Nestor Makhno’s home city of Huliaipole is the base for a thriving anarchist empire… Wait, isn’t that contradictory?

In any case, with Atil in their grasp, they hold the most capitals so far. If they can keep up the pressure, Makhnovia may become a force to be reckoned with.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Maravi Monarchs

4: Maravi Monarchs

Like the heads of a French nobleman, we’re off! Maravi creates a monarchy with Kalonga Mazula as their first king. However, they seem like they’re going to be engulfed by Lesotho. Could their Divine Right be wrong?

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Apples to Apples

5: Apples to Apples

Sam ‘The Zemurray Man’ Banana leads the UFC into the Medieval age, being the first to do so. This suggests that they have a pretty decent tech lead, considering a lot of civs JUST entered the classical era!

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Rest in Pieces

6: Rest in Pieces

Bulan (Khazaria) makes peace with Nestor Makhno- a crucial move but ultimately too costly, as they part with Samandar in the trade deal. Having divided their empire, Khazaria can only keep digging their own grave at this point, hoping that they’ll strike gold.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of The Gall of this Ben

7: The Gall of this Ben

Bengal, in a critical peace deal, holds onto the two cities it captured previously: Mayurkhandi and Pattakadal. With the large-scale empire they’re forming, they could easily be one of the first major contenders. Time tells all, however.

Meanwhile, Sweden gets the Forum Magnum and the Azande make white peace with Yemen.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Not just the Shaman, but the Shawoman and Shachildren, too!

8: Not just the Shaman, but the Shawoman and Shachildren, too!

In the city of Kellog, Chief Shaman Olgit of the Ket meets in the center of Stonehenge to conduct the first ritual of the Samanist religion. It’s a good bonus, sure, but they still need to expand somehow before they’re swallowed up by Kazakhstan.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Christina Almighty

9: Christina Almighty

Stockholm is the center of the Swedish Kingdom, but what exactly can we expect from Sweden? While they don’t have their UU or UB yet, the Pinnace and Konstpalats respectively, they’re in a pretty good position. Norway to the North is relatively weak, Finland is wide open, and for a naval civ to have control of the Baltic Sea? Hell, they could create a pretty decent empire.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of I can’t believe he’s not Khan!

10: I can’t believe he’s not Khan!

Timur has a pretty decent shot at victory. Not only does he have a large empire, but a lot of the available land at his disposal can give incredible yields- lots of freshwater, salt, and even some floodplains and oases? Those cities can rack up population, and given that the Timurids do get some science bonuses as well, they might be able to form a large tech lead.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Silva and Gold

11: Silva and Gold

Lula (Brazil) has declared war on the Guaycuru. With the bustling Amazon in his way, I don’t expect much from this war- especially if someone like the Omagua or Marajoara were to get involved.

Elsewhere, Dido completes the Terracotta Army.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Patron Saint of Patron Saints

12: Patron Saint of Patron Saints

France, 1760 B.C.Jeanne d’Arc declares the French army serves the forces of God and Jesus Christ.

There’s some murmur in the crowd, and some confusion. Who’s this ‘Jesus’ guy? Nobody complains, however, as they enjoy the prospect of getting presents in December.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Love be in the Arsa tonight

13: Love be in the Arsa tonight

The Eastern Finns worship the Goddess of Love, which nets them a total +2 Happiness from all their 6+ population cities. Joy.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Out in the East Texas town of El Paso

14: Out in the East Texas town of El Paso

Bad Boys III is looking pretty bad for Texas, as their former ‘Good Cop’ partner Pushmataha of the Choctaw pushes towards El Paso. However, it doesn’t look like they’ll take the city.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of The Hundred Years

15: The Hundred Years

Yes, it’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for: the Hundred Years’ War! Henry V of England declares war on France, presumably jealous of their newfound faith, and sends a pretty solid army towards Reims. This could be pretty damaging for French prospects.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Finn it to Win it!

16: Finn it to Win it!

Tyushtya of the Eastern Finns also declares war, this time on Makhnovia! Nestor Makhno must be quaking in his boots, surely- they’ve sent a total of 4 warriors, with another on the way!

In all seriousness, if Tyushtya can scrap together his forces, there could be a decent push here against the Makhnovist Menace.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Hello, Goodbye-dicheng

17: Hello, Goodbye-dicheng

Sun Yat-Sen (China) and Shuja-ud-Din Muhammad Khan (Bengal) declare a joint war on Shu Han! Baidicheng looks to be under immense pressure, and I can only expect things to ramp up in the future.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of On Vacation

18: On Vacation

To make matters worse for Shu Han, their most famous general has retired to enjoy their waning days in Lisbon! Zhuge Liang, disputed inventor of the repeating crossbow, sips a fruity drink while wearing a flower laurel. Upon hearing of his home’s invasion, he reported “I’m on vacation, please leave me alone.”

CBR In-Game Screenshot of United Fruits of America

19: United Fruits of America

The UFC has founded a Banana Republic. Go figure. However, of greater importance is that settler they seem to be sending into South America. Things are looking good for the Banana Bonanza.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Phantom Prince

20: Phantom Prince

The Wahgi, based in Papua, have founded a principality and GOOD LORD WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THERE!

Yes, the Wahgi have built an impressive army and have some settlers ready to colonize Australia! Ambang is already in the top end, right near Junjuwa, but it remains to be seen whether the Phantom Thieves can steal the heart of the Bunuba Republic.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Another One Baidichengs the Dust

21: Another One Baidichengs the Dust

Alright, that title wasn’t that good.

As you can see, Baidicheng is down to half health and the siege seems to be intensifying. Chinese forces are also taking severe damage- let’s hope this battle doesn’t stall.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Southern Hospitality

22: Southern Hospitality

Texas and the Shoshone make peace, and Choctaw forces have pulled out of El Paso. While things have greatly diminished for Texas, they still don’t seem that bad, to be honest- they have 4 cities, but Austin is the only one with a decent population.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Worthy Horthy

23: Worthy Horthy

Miklos Horthy of Hungary has been designated Regent for the King of Hungary- the as of yet seen Matthias LXIV ‘the Invisible’ of Hungary. Who is this missing monarch?

CBR In-Game Screenshot of 99 problems and a Pharaoh ain’t one

24: 99 problems and a Pharaoh ain’t one

Egypt has reformed Pesedjet, thus fulfilling King Tut’s historical duties. This also gives me the time to talk about how literally sweet Egypt is. Look at it- there’s 6 sugar in their empire currently. They must be doing a lot of baking.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Pacific New World

25: Pacific New World

The Shoshone field one of their UU: The Daigwahni, which replaces the Great General. The Daigwahni is a historical Shoshone term referring to a war chief, and it gives a massive yield bonus to cities within their radius. For the one based in Wind River, expect to see some massive gains in that city.

Cascadia and Deseret are biding their time.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Teenage Shangst

26: Teenage Shangst

As Baidicheng falls down to red health, Sun Yat-Sen of China gets a bit bored with one war and decides to declare another, picking on the distracted Shang forces. El Cid, who lives in Zhaoge, leads the defense.

Of note: Yakutia also declared war on Shang.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Sarawak-a-mole

27: Sarawak-a-mole

James Brooke of Sarawak has declared war on Rama V! This might be the first war we’ve seen that will be decided by naval forces- and it’s a big one. This could easily end up poorly for either of these contenders, but it’s also the most opportune moment for Jakes Brooke.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of From bad to worse

28: From bad to worse

Remember when I said that Eastern Finns only sent 4 warriors? Apparently that’s all they needed. Huliaipole’s under siege and the Timurids have joined the war on the Eastern Finnic side! Samandar might be a critical loss upon the Makhnovist forces.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of La Liberte

29: La Liberte

New France builds the Statue of Lib- I mean, the Colossus. I guess they got confused? Deseret also builds Petra on the other end of North America.

On the other end of the East Coast, Pushmataha of the Choctaw makes peace with Texas.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Emperor’s New Religion

30: Emperor’s New Religion

Intiism has been founded in Cusco, and this has already attracted the ire of the Omagua, who declare war on the Inca! An eventful turn for a civilization who has normally tame performances in testing.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Zhuge VS. Zhukov

31: Zhuge VS. Zhukov

Ah. It’s no wonder China’s winning. They have Zhukov, a man with so many medals that you could melt them down into yet another statue of Zhukov. A man with so many war honors that he could give 1 away each day and at the end of the year, he’d still have a net gain.

The Titan who felled Hitler. Yeah, that’s who’s leading the Chinese offensive.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Bronze for Silva

32: Bronze for Silva

Brazil’s forces have been eradicated, and Lula quickly makes peace with Guaycuru. This disastrous war has depleted the military of Brazil, and has left them with meager defenses until they replenish their armies. Oof.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of The Greatest Wall of the nation of Kazakhstan

33: The Greatest Wall of the nation of Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan has completed the Great Wall! While this might not be the biggest benefit to Kazakhstan in particular, it’s a HUGE detriment to their neighbors, the Ket, who are left with no good options of neighbors to invade until Dynamite.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Top Katende

34: Top Katende

Luba has recently started an expansive streak, with Kipushya and Kabongo trailing up north. Perhaps Luba looks to expand Northwards rather than South?

Also, I had no clue we were in a Golden Age, but we aren’t anymore I guess.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of A Century of Disappointment

35: A Century of Disappointment

OH COME ON!

This was THE moment we were waiting for, and it’s gone! WHERE DID THE ENGLISH ARMY GO? How did you mess up this invasion?

Nevertheless, this historic rivalry has at least begun with both sides on an even playing field. We’ll have to see how this duality plays out.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Pah-humbug!

36: Pah-humbug!

The Pahlavi dynasty declares war on Khazaria, and Mohammad Reza’s forces are already taking steps towards Balanjar.

Meanwhile, Samandar has fallen to Timurid forces, but Mahknovia has pushed back the Eastern Finns. This seems to be the end of any front for this war.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Summer Oven

37: Summer Oven

I took a close-up picture of Ngarrindjeri territory to showcase this- their Unique Improvement, the oven mound. Yes, they are big. I told TopHat to adjust the size down before he released them. What did he do? Nothing.

In any case, it’s a pretty good improvement, but it’s limited to freshwater tiles and unfortunately the Ngarrindjeri don’t seem to have that many options for freshwater.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Pax Europa

38: Pax Europa

With peace between Makhnovia and the Eastern Finns, peace has returned to Europe. Unfortunately, that likely means we won’t be seeing these guys for a while.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Don’t let the Sun go down on me

39: Don’t let the Sun go down on me

Yunnan has been captured by China, but Baidicheng remains in the red with the only Melee Unit nearby being a spearman in Beijing. China needs to start pushing harder if they want to take out Shu Han.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Ah, Naruhodo

40: Ah, Naruhodo

Japan has founded Shintoism in Kashiwabara. This means it’s EW story time!

I always used to found Shintoism when I got a religion and then renamed it Anime Thighs, so whenever the religion spread, it said “Anime Thighs have spread to CityName!” and I would chuckle while my parents fought in the background. Good times.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Yue are next

41: Yue are next

Shang has the pressure applied to them, but fear not! They have earned their UU: the Yue Axeman! This unit earns a unique promotion for every policy tree completed, and prevents adjacent tiles from being pillaged. Unfortunately, they only have 1. Let’s hope they can increase that number quickly!

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Bolim Ballin’

42: Bolim Ballin’

Things have suddenly turned sour for Sarawak, who have not even damaged Chiang Mai, as the Wahgi launch an impressive naval invasion!

Also, Senshi constantly reminds me that this island is shaped wrong. It is. Moving on.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Astana-shing

43: Astana-shing

Kazakhstan declares war on Makhnovia, but they have the Timurids in the way of any conquest dreams. The Timurids, however, have plenty of options to launch an invasion into Makhnovia, and are currently taking none of them.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Why?

44: Why?

Daji of Shang, in the midst of defending Yinxu, has declared war on Shu Han. El Cid, now a former general, calls it quits and walks back to Iberia.

New Zealand constructs the Apadana.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Don’t Kill the Messenger!

45: Don’t Kill the Messenger!

Washakie of the Shoshone has declared a good war against the Choctaw and is already besieging Doaksville. Say what you want about the Shoshone already climbing to the top of the rankings, at least their performance lives up to their expectations.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Sorry-wak

46: Sorry-wak

James Brooke (Sarawak) gets down on both knees and begs Rama V (Siam) for forgiveness.

“Eh, sure.”

Peace is quickly declared while James Brooke struggles to figure out a good defense against the Wahgi.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Japanic Attack

47: Japanic Attack

Seeing that his colonial prospects are going nowhere, Jimmu (Japan) signs a peace treaty with Goguryeo. Goguryeo, meanwhile, has been sieging Yinxu down to yellow, having completely forgotten about Japan’s invasion.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Oy Vey

48: Oy Vey

Khazaria founds Judaism in Balanjar, which the Pahlavi forces have already put under siege. Honestly, this is kinda tragic. Out of the 3 horde civs, Khazaria was my favorite in CGR testing, and yet they look like they’ll be the first one out.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Lion of Thermopylae

49: Lion of Thermopylae

Leonidas leads a Zande charge up north. Perhaps they could be heading towards Egypt? In any case, this could be a critical moment in African history- if you recall, there has been only 1 war in Africa so far, and this one looks a lot more relevant.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Tour of Torii

50: Tour of Torii

If you look south of Kashiwabara, you’ll see the Torii- Japan’s unique improvement! It’s a wonderful little unique, but it seems Japan only has 1 so far. In any case, this allows us to get a better look at what Japan has been doing with their land, as well as giving us the opportunity to talk about the island nation.

Japan has a Composite Bowman replacement, which they should be getting soon, and obviously the Torii. However, they’re a civ more focused on Faith than anything else, and it’s hard to say whether the civ has much of a fighting chance. However, they’ve been doing well so far, and I hope to see more from them.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Doaksville Devils

51: Doaksville Devils

Doaksville is besieged by Shoshone units from the west, and there’s no major reinforcements coming from the east. I don’t expect much of a comeback on this front, despite how major it is. If Doaksville falls, Bok Chukfi Ahilha could be next.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Balanjar Wonderland

52: Balanjar Wonderland

Lol, JK, Balanjar is under intense siege and could fall any minute. However, the Khazars have one last hope- their enemy, the Pahlavis, have also declared war on Makhnovia at an inopportune moment for Mohammad Reza.

Also, white peace was declared between Hungary and Illyria.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Yinxu, you owe me a Coke!

53: Yinxu, you owe me a Coke!

Daji may not be the friendliest leader on the cylinder, however she sure does know how to strike a peace deal- she manages to salvage Yinxu at the last moment and declare a white peace with Goguryeo. However, it seems only temporary. Meanwhile, Rouran is carving out the desert to the west, and Mongolia is also settling a lot.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Mpingspam

54: Mpingspam

As the Azande have declared war on Egypt, let’s take a look at those unique units in Orange: the Mpinga. These are a deadly composite bowman replacement with less range but powerful bonuses. However, these bonuses won’t be much use in Egypt, where there aren’t forests or jungle. However, this could do some serious damage to the Egyptian core.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of To Err

55: To Err

Yemeni forces approach the Sumerian capital of Ur. Ur has basically no Units, whereas Yemen has a pretty impressive composition. If the Sumerians don’t quickly produce some defenses, their 2 cities are in jeopardy.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Corpse of Corpus Christi

56: Corpse of Corpus Christi

Our first dumb peace deal goes to Texas, who gives up Corpus Christi to the Deseret for seemingly no reason! This is a momentous occasion that will scar the face of history for generations to come.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Baisexual

57: Baisexual

Baidicheng finally falls to China, splitting Shu Han between the North and the South. Sun Yat-Sen seems to be the major victor in this part. However, that’s not the end quite yet...

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Mixed up Mixtecs

58: Mixed up Mixtecs

The United Fruit Company declares war on the Mixtecs, with Texas joining in! Yes, Texas joined in despite JUST giving up their city to the Deseret. However, things look pretty bad for the Mixtecs, even despite fielding one of their UUs: the Zandaru, which gets a siege bonus when near Great People and generates Great Writer points from kills and City Captures.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of ...To Ur is Yemen

59: ...To Ur is Yemen

Yes, Yemen does indeed declare war on the Sumerian City-State of Ur! This could easily end up being one of our first eliminations if Shulgi doesn’t play his cards right. However, our chapter ends here- thank you for joining me, I hope you continue to enjoy our series.

With love, ExplosiveWatermelon.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Summary 1

60: Summary 1

Shoshone tops the list, but look out for some surprises- Pomerania, Shu Han, and Srivijaya are in the top spots as well. Don’t expect them to stay for too long, however.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Summary 2

61: Summary 2

Rashtrakuta takes the bottom spot. Amoghavarsha I may have founded a Kingdom, but it’s clear that Shuja-ud-Din Muhammad Khan (Bengal) has destroyed it.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Religions 1

62: Religions 1

With Shinto, Inti, Samanism, Judaism, and Catholicism having been founded, our list of religions is complete! Good job everyone!

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Religions 2

63: Religions 2

Here’s a list of beliefs, I’m not going to describe them all but God of War is pretty good for the Ket.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Religions 3

64: Religions 3

Catholicism actually gets a pretty good bonus in Interfaith Dialogue, which is nice.

CBR In-Game Screenshot of Religions 4

65: Religions 4

Inti Pagodas are a fun little quirk, but otherwise it seems the religion list has been rounded out with these as our beliefs. Thank you for joining me, I’ll see you next time!
